A provocative tour for know-it-all New Yorkers and first time visitors alike: We start on the Lower East Side, and in Little Italy, exploring the tenement lined streets and the stories that spill out of them across generations and languages. we then head to Chinatown, a massive neighborhood of windy streets and hidden excitements--all the while, tour-takers snack on globe-spanning treats that have become decidedly local. Joining the crowds of recent immigrants we ride a Chinatown van to Elmhurst, Queens, the city's most diverse neighborhood. Examining pertinent social issues, we walk north into Jackson Heights, a swirl of South American and South Asian street life, where we get a taste of the neighborhood, while highlighting the parallel struggles and joys of old and new immigrant New York. The tour ends with a ride on the 7 train, a chugging elevated global village that deposits us in Grand Central.

Queens is underrepresented among the many NYC tours. And we here at Streetwise New York tours are Queens residents and aim to rectify that. We tour Corona, an Italian turned Latino neighborhood and then go to Elmhurst's Chinatown. After a helping of history and a couple doses of dumplings we head into Colombian and Indian Jackson Heights, and then make our way through the Mediterranean cosmopolis that is Astoria, a Greek and Middle Eastern neighborhood. We hit the Queens frontier of LIC, industrial maze turned Manhattan yuppie outpost, in time to watch the sun set over the sky line from the gorgeous green waterfront of Gantry Park.
