No big red buses or even yellow umbrellas held high.  This allows us to explore neighborhoods and blocks that are worlds unto themselves, without upsetting their normal routines.  Streetwise New York tours don't point and stare at the city... we live it......

 

After spending a year in an engineering office longing to be outdoors, I decided it was time for a change. My plan was to give tours for a summer and then figure things out. I needed a break where the only number crunching was deciding what SPF would result in the best tan in the least amount of time. I never realized how rewarding it would be showing my New York to visitors. Almost six years later and I'm still at this temporary job sharing my interests, experiences, and humor with people from around the world. I've finally been able to balance my analytical and creative side all under the guise of what makes New York so incredible. I'm a life long New Yorker-- meaning I don't own a car, I walk fast and I wouldn't dream of living anywhere else. I think New York has a lot to offer eveyone and I love sharing its uniqueness with visitors. Just this week, I took a travelling cheese snob to a top Cheese Shop and two midwestern basketball geeks to the city's top pick-up balI courts and blew a dozen minds with an array of pizza, bagels and dumplings. Being a tour guide is great!
